About

Kruger National Park

This park is the most loved, and famous of all of South Africa’s national parks, offering a national park the same size as Israel.

The Kruger Park offers large numbers and wide varieties of animals, birdlife and incredible bio-diversity across its numerous eco systems.

This is the home of the Big Five and a vast number of award winning safari lodges offer everything from humble guided walking safaris, to top end, specialist photographically equipped open vehicle game drives.

The choice of accommodation varies from lovely tented camps built on wooden decks to 5 star hilltop lodges with views over waterholes, and huge suites with private plunge pools and viewing decks looking out of waterholes, river bends and meadows that are frequented by wildlife.

Private Safari Reserves

Many private reserves were built along the national parks boundaries in the last 30 years, and now with a huge success, have dropped their fences with the national park itself, and restored ancient migration routes, and free roaming movement of wildlife, in what is now called the GREATER KRUGER. Sabi-Sands, Timbavati, Balule, Mala Mala and Klaserie are some of the names that are synonymous with some of the best safari experiences this continent has to offer.

Although the Kruger National Park in an area referred to as the “lowveld” or flat African savanna, it has a range of mountains along its eastern border with Mozambique and a series of canyons and waterfalls that tumble from the high ridges on the western side. Among these are the Blyde River Canyon, which is the largest green canyon on earth, and worth a 1 or 2 night detour to enjoy a full Kruger and Canyon experience.

Best Time To Travel

June to October are the best for the big cats.
October to February are excellent for birds, with November to January the peak months.
October to November are the best for the new offspring as impala, kudu, buffalo, elephants, zebras, giraffes and many more give birth.
November to March are the hot, at times wet, months and Kruger is lush and green and teeming with life. During these month the risk of malaria increases and it’s essential to take Malaria prophylaxis. In the north the baobab trees look most impressive during the dry winter season from May to August.

The southern winter means malaria is risk low because of the dry weather. The nights can be chilly with warm days at times sufficiently so to swim at some of the camps with pools. The grass and bushveld looks dry and uninteresting. At times fires will destroy part of the Savannah but it has the positive effect of bringing about new growth which does attract the grazers amongst the wildlife.

In terms of Kosher, our company has built and extended a growing network of Kosher kitchens, which are set up for full Milchik and Fleischik catering, overseen by international and local Kosher chefs who have come in and trained and equipped the local staff to perform the best fresh Glatt Kosher catering available in all of Africa.

Being remotely located, you do not have a permanent Jewish population nearby, so you can choose between self supervision of a local chef, who follows the preparation and separation rules easily and always is using new utensils, pots and pans, as well as a separated Kosher ingredient section of cold stores and dry stores, which is more cost effective for couples.

You can opt to have one of our freelance/ private Mashgichim fly up from Johannesburg and provide you with the additional layer of assurance and supervision for the local chefs. Larger family groupings might even opt for our freelance Kosher chefs and a small team of assitants and a Mashgiach to drive up from Johannesburg and do a camp takeover and make you wonderful Glatt Kosher meals deep in the safari regions around Kruger.
